April birthdays just past.......my lovely momma, Valerie, and her lovely mother, Nancy (my grandma), Derek, Chris G., and my cousin Jill's boy, Paul Michael, who is now 8. Paul Michael came into being the summer I returned from my time living in New Mexico, and was born my first year in NYC.
When I look at him, I see my life passing by at warp speed!
May birthdays coming up......my father-in-law, Mr. George, and my
35th birthday.
I visited my BFF DeAnn and her three children (all under the age of three, by the way!!!) on Monday, and she tells me how she is finally starting to notice that she is aging. She looks amazing first of all, especially considering the kaos of her daily life.....but it is true, this year feels like a definite shift to me. We are all married now, late bloomers all of us friends, and now we are all thinking about having children, or are mothers!
When we were all together, and after much wine at the rehearsal dinner for my wedding, my dear friend Alison proclaimed that for 35, "we are looking gooood!", for which she got a lot of laughs and ribbing, but it is true....all of these girls have a zest for life and a true grounded beauty, and each is so different in their way. One is a singer (Alison) with the most amazing positive spirit, another (Jennifer) is a "gypsy woman" with such a sense of humor and gentle earthiness, another is a photographer (Amy), with a true excitement for any new experience and mom to two beautiful girls, and another is the lovliest soul (Jen) with such an open heart, and great fun!
I find it so wonderful and amazing that most of my close friends are from high school, and we have all maintained this connection through the most vast of distances and the most varied of personal changes.
I am quite blessed to be so fortunate!
